Don't diesels get over a million km on them. I would rust proof it. Would last for ever.

That's the rumour ;) Thing is everything else in it won't last forever. The leather seats will eventually regardless of what I do to take of them crack, a/c condensors will fail along with radiators and heat exchangers. Water pumps, power steering pumps, PW motors, keyless entry pads.............. but hey, I'm getting ahead of myself.

Eventually there will be something else in the driveway cause I'm not old enough for the truck to outlast me [thumbs_up]

Krown for me on the Super Duty Lou, DW say's this truck has to last me for a while so I figured I better get it oiled :?

As far as the plastic box liners, I think as long as you pull them out during the summer (more flexible) and give the box a good cleaning it helps. I have heard of spraying Krown type undercoating behind the liner, but if you plan on pulling them out you had better have some old clothes on cause it's gonna be messy :o

Considering it's only 139 for my truck, I am beginning to think that this might be a good idea. Does anyone see a downside?

When I bought my truck I had it undercoated with Corrision Free http://www.corrosionfree.com/ Canadian Tire is an approved centre for appplication. They took the truck in the night before and power steam cleaned it and left it in the garage to dry overnight and applied the undercoating the next day. The touch ups are only required every 18 months and when I got mine they guaranteed that the cost of touch ups would never go beyond the original cost of the initial application ($129).

H'mmm, not sure how I missed this thread. I have all our vehicles sprayed with rust check each year. The safari van I had a few years ago had been rust checked ever year of it's life. I bought it when it was 10 years old and sold it when it was 14 years old an it had no body or frame rust that I could see when I sold it. When I purchased the vehicle the previous owner had left the papers in the glove box showing it was rust checked for the nine years previous to my ownership. I was quite impressed with the result of using rust check and now have all vehicles sprayed by them. The only disadvantages I have seen using this method was the vehicle drips for about 30 hours so I park it on the street instead of the drive way during this time. Also when you go to work in it you can count on getting yourself covered in oil. Anyways, this is my experiences with using Rust Check on a vehicle and as always YMMV.
